Goal: Met

When we got back from North Africa, I could barely move. I've always been active, but being there made it difficult to continue that. I did everything I could, but I never was able to keep up the level that I wanted to. When Blake would go for a job with me, I started with running a minute at a time. Even that was difficult, but I set my goals and have been working at them. I said a while ago that I would like to run a marathon, but that's not possible if you can't run a 5K. So, this past Saturday, that's exactly what I did.
I've only run one race before and it was a 5K. I started too fast and I didn't feel good about run-walking it. So, this time I was carely to pace myself. I ran in the first annual Healthy Sooners Fun Run. I really enjoyed it. The weather was great and I did so well! As you can see by the picture, I did it in less than 36 minutes, which was my goal. Actually I ran it in 35:15. I felt really good about how I did. Up next: a 10K!

I Want To Be A Bison When I Grow Up

That's apparently what my little sister Abby said a few years ago and now her dreams have come true. She is officially a freshman at OBU. We took the day yesterday and met her and her stuff and my parents at OBU. I was all stretched out and ready to carry stuff, but apparently they are alot more welcoming than when I moved in to OU and the car was swarmed by about 20 students who grabbed stuff and started yelling Abby's room number. As a control freak, this would not have been okay with me, but she seemd okay with it.

Anyways, Abby got to meet her new roommate Omni and Mom cried a little. But, it was a fun day and it was so crazy to think that my baby sister is now all on her own. I think I took it harder than Mom and Dad. I had one person ask me if I was moving in and it made me feel a little younger, but for the most part, Blake and I couldn't stop talking about how it's been 8 years and 7 years since we went to college and how that is crazy!

Goodbye Friends!

So, this blog is a shout out to Billy and Kate, some of our best friends in the world. They left Norman on Sunday for their new home in South Bend, Indiana. Here are some of our pictures from our last hoorah together. It was sad to say goodbye, especially since we barely got to know baby Maryn. But we're excited for them to get there and settle and for Billy to start his doctoral program at Notre Dame. We miss you guys already! And we'll see you soon, because we are planning a road trip!

Our Home

Here are some pictures of our new place! I've been waiting to take them until we were more satisfied with how it looks.

1. Look at what we look out at our front door! And we play tennis all the time. It's fun!

2. Our living room. Note the curtains we bought in Morocco. And if you ever visited us before, you'll see some very familiar pieces.

3. Our dining room and kitchen. We just finished getting all those pictures up. And our magnets from traveling the past couple of years let us imagine that we're in Europe or Morocco again!

4. It would be a Blake and Carol bathroom without the world map shower curtain. And a new feature...if you come and visit us, you get to put a star on any places you have ever visited!

5. Walk in closet! And an ingenious way to hang earrings...thanks Nat!

6. Our sad, bare bedroom...that's always the last on my to-do list.
